West Somerset District CouncilWest Somerset District Council
The West Somerset District stretches from the mouth of the River Parrett in the north-east, with the boundary running south-westwards inland across Somerset to meet the County border with Devon on Exmoor; it then follows the County border to arrive at the coast between Lynton and Porlock. The northern side of the District thus comprises of some 32 miles of varied coastline providing a contrast to the diversified range of countryside to be found inland. Two thirds of the District is within the Exmoor National Park with a large proportion of the balance within the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The North Somerset Partnership encompasses the activities and services of key organisations, such as the Primary Care Trust, the Police, the Environment Agency, the business, community and voluntary sectors. The partnership was established to deliver the Community Strategy. The council, as a major partner, delivers key services and projects which contribute to the realisation of the strategy.
